Helsinki Zen connects ancient contemplative teachings and practices with social action, nature, and the Earth. Our intention is to support activists from various fields by providing contemplative practices that can help them manage their significant tasks. We engage in practices that foster clarity, compassion, and courage—qualities essential for addressing personal challenges, social issues, and humanity’s greatest crisis: the ecological emergency. Both individual and collective transformation are necessary; meditation can challenge the illusion of separation, which is at the root of both individual and societal suffering.

We also offer online instructions to zen meditation, please email if you would like to meet with our teacher sensei Mikko Ijäs.
